FG announces new resumption date for students

The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has officially announced a delay in the resumption of students at 112 Federal Government Colleges across Nigeria.
The new resumption date for the return of students is now set for January 12, 2025, instead of the previously scheduled January 5.
Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the Permanent Secretary of the FME, confirmed that the extension in resumption date is due to ongoing renovations at several of the schools. A circular outlining the adjustment was sent to school principals after approval from the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad.
While the change has been communicated across the board, there has been no official update regarding the resumption date for Kings College in Lagos, causing some confusion among parents. Traditionally, senior students preparing for exams such as WASSCE, NECO, and NABTEB return to school ahead of the rest, but as of now, no formal notice has been issued.
As the January 12 date approaches, parents and students alike are hoping for clearer communication from the schools to avoid any further confusion.
