Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has stated that he is not worried about being reelected in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Yusuf also emphasised that he would not lose sleep over the 2027 elections, as leadership is ordained by the Almighty Allah.
The governor, while speaking during the monthly women empowerment programme, also cautioned against making inciting statements and hate speeches ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the governor, such reckless and inciting utterances have the potential to scare unsuspecting voters, who are eager to exercise their civic rights.
Yusuf said, “What I am worried about is not re-election. I am more concerned about delivering the dividends of democracy on the mandate given to me in this first tenure. I want the good people of Kano to judge me by my performance at the end of this tenure.
“We know those people, who were massively rejected in both 2019 and 2023. We won against them at a time when we had no political office—not even a Councillorship seat. But Allah made it possible for us to win with a landslide victory.
“I am destined to be a Governor. It is my total belief and submission to the will of Allah that if He so wills, I will serve a second term. If not, I won’t. So why should I bother myself.”
However, Yusuf vowed to resist pressure on his mandate, emphasising that, “My performance will speak for me, not political pressure.”
Also, the governor lamented how enemies of Kano, who disguise themselves as opposition members, are attempting to create political tension in the state.
