Super Eagles: ‘I’m a strict coach – Chelle
The New Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle has given an insight into how he plans to pilot the affairs of the country’s senior men’s national football team under his reign.
Chelle who was unveiled in Abuja on Monday disclosed ‘I’m a strict coach’ which highlights his zero tolerance for indiscipline.
Chelle displayed this strictness during the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, where he relegated Yves Bissouma to substitution role for little known Lassana Coulibaly after the former’s unimpressive showing in their Group E opening game against South Africa.
The 47-year-old has his work cut out for him as he finds a way to manage the egos found in a set-up like the camp of the Super Eagles.
The Malian is expected to lead the nation to the CHAN competition holding next month in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
He also has an uphill task of trying to qualify the Super Eagles for next year’s World Cup as they currently languish in the 5th position out of six in Group C with a .
Nigeria missed the last edition that held in Qatar and the nation’s football fans would not want a repeat.
He becomes the 37th Super Eagles coach.
