The ongoing dispute between gospel artist Mercy Chinwo and her former record label boss, EezeeTee, has taken a new twist as popular entertainer MC Orobo criticized social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) for his recent on comments Mercy Chinwo and her Boss EezeeTee.
In a viral video circulating online, MC Orobo described VDM’s arguments as “childish and baseless,” accusing him of misunderstanding the intricacies of record label contracts and music rights.
“In every record label deal, the artist is entitled to buy out his or her catalog over a period of time,” Orobo explained, suggesting that VDM lacked the knowledge required to comment responsibly on the matter.
The comedian also posed a rhetorical question: “Why is no one coming forward to speak positively about EezeeTee?”
Orobo’s fiery remarks have sparked widespread debate across social media, with some users siding with his call for a more nuanced understanding of the entertainment industry, while others defended VDM’s right to voice his opinions.
He further advised the social media activist to “take the back seat” and seek proper education on the complexities of music contracts before making public statements.
The controversy continues to divide fans and industry insiders, drawing attention to broader issues surrounding record label practices and artists’ rights in Nigeria’s entertainment landscape.
