The Spanish striker Lucas Perez, who has signed a contract until the end of this season, in which he will wear the number 27.
The 36-year-old Galician striker was without a club after terminating his contract with Deportivo La Coruna for personal reasons. He was training on a temporary basis to keep in shape with Spanish fourth tier side Rayo Majadahonda, and has found an opportunity.
“I can’t wait to show myself to the fans and my new teammates. I’m very ambitious and I’m looking forward to scoring a lot of goals and providing a lot of assists. My first impression of the club is very good, I get energy from the people I have already met,” he told the Dutch club’s media.
“The challenge is to come and show that I can give the level, that I can play in a team as important as PSV. On a personal level, I am very happy to be able to fight for titles and what I intend is to earn it on the field,” he said.
He played his last game in the Spanish second tier on January 19th against Burgos at El Plantío, where Lucas Vazquez’s beloved club won 1-0. The Galician was subsequently released and now embarks on a new stage in his long career, in which he has played in Ukraine (Karpaty Lviv and Dynamo Kiev), Greece (PAOK Thessaloniki), England (Arsenal and West Ham) and Spain (Rayo Vallecano, Deportivo, Alaves, Elche and Cadiz).
“PSV stepped up to the plate right from the start and did everything they could to get me to Eindhoven. That did me a lot of good. Unfortunately, it took a little longer than expected for the final agreement to come through, due to personal reasons on my part. I have found a solution for that and I am very grateful for the fact that the PSV management has been so patient,” explained the Spanish striker.
