Yamal would not have flourished in my era – Pique

Former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique believed that Lamine Yamal wouldn’t have flourished in his era.
Pique revealed this while speaking to his friend and former rival Iker Casillas in his new podcast entitled “Bajo los Palos”. In a preview of the interview that will be released on Wednesday 26 February, the Catalan considered that Lamine Yamal would not have played in his era.
Gerard Pique and Iker Casillas have been away from the football pitch for some time now. However, the two former players are still talking and continue to be in the footballing spotlight. On this occasion, and with a podcast directed by the former Real Madrid goalkeeper, the ex-Barcelona player reviewed the latest news in the sport.
In a preview offered by the Instagram account of “Bajo los Palos”, the title of the programme, Piqué said a few words about Lamine Yamal, comparing him to his generation when he was on the pitch: “My feeling is that Lamine Yamal would not have played in our era”.
Pique also spoke about the tension in those years of the “Clásicos” with Guardiola and Mourinho in the dugouts: “When lines are crossed that should never be crossed, that’s when I don’t share it.”
“It’s one of the greatest pleasures I’ve ever had in my life,” he said of the boos he received in some of the stadiums he visited in his time as a footballer.
