Lagos LG chairman passes away

The Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Bola Shobowale, has died after a long battle with illness.
Her passing marks the end of a difficult period in which she was unable to perform her official duties for nearly a year due to health challenges.
Shobowale’s death comes just three days after Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, appointed the council’s Vice Chairman, Oladipupo Oluwaloni, as Acting Chairman. The move was aimed at addressing the leadership vacuum caused by her prolonged absence and ensuring the smooth running of the LCDA.
Throughout her tenure, Shobowale was widely recognized for her commitment to grassroots development and community engagement. Her efforts in infrastructure, social welfare, and economic empowerment left a lasting impact on the Ayobo-Ipaja community. However, her declining health had created uncertainty within the council, prompting the state government to step in.
Following the announcement of her death, residents and political leaders have taken to various platforms to express their condolences, mourning the loss of a leader dedicated to public service. Many have praised her contributions to local governance and the positive changes she brought to the LCDA.
As the council transitions under Oluwaloni’s leadership, stakeholders are optimistic that the administration will continue Shobowale’s legacy of service and development. Official statements regarding burial arrangements and tributes from the state government and the LCDA are expected in the coming days.
