NSCDC deploys 4,000 personnel across Abuja for Eid-el-Fitr celebration

In preparation for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has deployed 4,000 personnel across Abuja to ensure maximum security.
Commandant Olusola Odumosu, PhD, directed the massive deployment to safeguard lives, properties, and critical national assets before, during, and after the festivities. Security operatives have been stationed in key locations, including prayer grounds, shopping malls, recreational centers, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, government buildings, the Three Arms Zone, City Gate, and areas housing diplomatic offices.
To enhance security coverage, specialized units such as the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad, Operation Adkasu, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE), and the Counter-Terrorism unit have been mobilized. In addition, undercover officers have been deployed for covert surveillance, particularly around identified black spots like uncompleted buildings that could serve as hideouts for criminals.
Commandant Odumosu has issued strict directives to all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to maintain a firm grip on security within their jurisdictions, warning that no lapses will be tolerated. He emphasized that officers must conduct themselves professionally, work in synergy with other security agencies, and strictly adhere to rules of engagement—avoiding harassment of citizens and preventing accidental discharges.
Reassuring residents of a safe and peaceful celebration, the NSCDC boss urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to security agencies. He also issued a stern warning to criminals and vandals, stating that NSCDC operatives are strategically positioned across the city and will not hesitate to apprehend any offenders.
As the Muslim community in the FCT prepares to mark the Eid-el-Fitr festivities, Commandant Odumosu extended his warm wishes, praying for the continued peace and progress of the nation.
