Eid ul-Fitr: Saudi Arabia, UAE announce moon sighting

Saudi Arabia has officially announced that the Shawwal moon has been sighted, confirming that Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
According to Arab media reports, the moon-sighting committee convened after Maghrib prayers on Saturday and confirmed the sighting of the new crescent, marking the end of Ramadan after 29 days of fasting.
Following Saudi Arabia’s announcement, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also confirmed that Sunday, March 30, will be the first day of Eid ul-Fitr, as reported by local media sources.
The announcement paves the way for millions of Muslims in these countries and across the world to commence Eid celebrations, marking the end of the holy month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection.
Eid ul-Fitr, also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is one of the most significant Islamic holidays, traditionally observed with special prayers, feasts, and gatherings with family and friends.
With the confirmation of the moon sighting, Muslim communities in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other parts of the world will now prepare for the joyous occasion, which begins with the special Eid prayers at mosques and prayer grounds.
