Ekiti 2026: Group mobilises against APC

Ahead of the 2026 Governorship election in Ekiti State, a group of concerned Politicians across the registered political parties under the umbrella of ” EKITI NEW DIMENSION’ has emerged with the sole aim of rescuing the State from the clueless government of the All Progressives Congress APC .
Reports revealed that, the Group held its Inaugural meeting at a popular hotel in the State Capital, Ado-Ekiti on Monday and was well attended by principal political stakeholders from the 16 Local Governments Areas of the State.
The group officially emerged in Ekiti with a vow to unseat the current government and tackle the challenges facing the state.
Speaking to the press at the end of their meeting, its spokesperson, Chief Segun Akinwumi outlined the movement’s conservative vision and commitment to revitalising Ekiti governance.
According to him, the group seeks to provide a fresh conservative alternative in the political landscape ahead of Ekiti 2026 election
The group vowed to unseat the current government of the All Progressives Congress APC and tackle the challenges facing the state in general
Also, the focus is on restoring national security, economic prosperity, and equity through conservative principles.
Members of the movement argued that the current governance had left Ekiti and entire Nigeria in a state of confusion, insecurity, and poverty, creating a strong desire for change among the citizens from the party that believes so much on radio advert than physical work, the party that believes in telling how far they have gone without telling us how much they have received.
It has become necessary having understood that unless a reasonable step is taken, the present government will keep on deceiving Ekiti people with their propaganda without any meaningful project that reduce unemployment in Ekiti State, a member of the group stated
They also described the formation of the group as a response to what they see as the failure of the progressivism currently dominating Ekiti State and Nigeria political scene.
In his address to the forum, Chief Bode Ajewole , the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) stressed the need for the group to advocate a return to the values of the First Republic, emphasizing patriotism, morality, and the rule of law as essential to Nigeria’s future.
They also expressed concerns over the erosion of public trust in the judiciary and called for its overhaul to ensure justice and uphold democratic
principles.
