Multichoice defies court order, increases DStv, GOtv subscription

Multichoice, the parent body of DSTV and GOTV has defied order of a Nigerian court of law that restrained it from increasing its monthly subscription.
The company had been issued an interim order by Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) in Abuja, which had restrained the company from effecting the price increase pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
The new prices have taken effect, leaving millions of subscribers with no choice but to pay the increased rates.
This development has sparked outrage among customers, who feel betrayed by Multichoice’s disregard for the legal system and its customers’ interests.
As at the time of filling this report, Multichoice is yet to release any update or official statement to the court rule.
