Nigerian street-hop artiste Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command in connection with a case of alleged criminal defamation and other related offences.

According to a statement released on Sunday, April 13, 2025, by the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Portable’s arrest followed a formal petition filed by one Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as “Osupa.” The petition reportedly accused the singer of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Police said they acted in line with due legal process, obtaining a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin before dispatching operatives to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where Portable was taken into custody at about 7:25 p.m. on Saturday.

Following his arrest, the singer was immediately transferred to Ilorin for further investigation.

“The suspect’s statement was obtained in the presence of legal representatives from both sides. He is currently in custody and arrangements are being made to charge him to court without delay,” the police statement read in part.

The Command urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, stressing that it remains committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring a transparent investigative process.

Further updates on the matter are expected in the coming days as the case progresses.
