The Chief of Defence ( CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa joined members of the Armed Forces to break the Christian fast.
The event was the initiative of the CDS for both Christians and Muslims personnel to dine together in order to encourage unity of purpose and germane concept of jointness in the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN).
Speaking at the event on Thursday, “the CDS stressed the need of sustainance of the initiative as it would encourage tolerance and comradeship. He emphasised the significance of the spiritual, health and physical benefits of fasting.
“According to him, fasting helps to imbide discipline, endurance and closeness to God, which are imperatives to military regimentation.
“General Musa seized the opportunity to thank members of the AFN for their sacrifice and dedication to duty despite difficult challenges. He noted that the task ahead was no doubt daunting, as called on personnel to work together as a team to for more success stories in all the theatres of operation across the nation.
“The Defence Chief noted that although there was a notable increase in the tempo of attacks, that would not diminish the military efforts in combating the scourge. He therefore, charged members of the AFN to forge forward, remain focused and committed always.
“The CDS also asserted that the President, His Excellency, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has continued to support the AFN by providing the needed resources and equipment to prosecute the fight against the enemies of state.
“It could be recalled that the combined breaking of fast was also organised every Thursdays of the week during the Muslim fasting period.
“Members of the Armed Forces from the services and the Defence Headquarters graced the occasion and share joyous moments together”.
