Skill acquisition: FCT CDOWA rallies members, widows, female officers for empowerment

The leadership of the Civil Defense Officers Wives Association (CDOWA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has rallied their members, widdiws and female and for relevant income-generating skills.
The training, under the leadership of the FCT chairperson, Mrs. Mrs Bolanle Olayinka Odumosu, is designed with a focus on equipping participants with relevant and income-generating skills that are applicable in present economy.
Speaking Friday during the official flag off of the training programme at the FCT Command of the Corps, Mrs. Odumosu said the initiative marked the first of its kind in the FCT Command, and it reflects a clear and practical step toward addressing the economic empowerment of its members and other female personnel of the Command.
According to her, the participants will not only be adequately equipped with the knowledge of making liquid soap, body creams, detergents and disinfectants, they will also go home with a starter pack of materials for making the items.
The FCT Chairperson said: “As you all know, as wives of officers, we understand the challenges and sacrifices that come with this noble profession. Our spouses dedicate their lives to keeping us safe, often putting themselves in harm’s way. As their partners, we play a vital role in supporting them and our families.
“This training programme is a testament to our commitment to empowering ourselves and our families. By acquiring new skills, we can enhance our personal and professional growth, improve our economic stability, and contribute to the well-being of our communities.
“Participants will also be lectured on Navigating access to markets, branding, packaging, and funding opportunities for startup success.”
She expressed her gratitude to the National President of the Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), Hajia Aishat Audi, for her support to the FCT Chapter.
“Her continuous guidance has given credibility and strength to the efforts of our chapter in the FCT.
“I owe a lot to my darling husband, Commandant Olusola Odumosu, the trailblazer, the pacesetting Commandant of the NSCDC FCT Command.”
Mrs Odumosu, however, called on the participants to approach it with an open mind, a willing heart, and the determination to turn these skills into success stories.
“This is your time to learn, to create, and to build something meaningful for yourselves, your families, and your communities. Let this be the beginning of many more opportunities to come.
“I urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity. Engage actively, learn passionately, and network with one another.”
