Liverpool new signing shows support for potential teammate

Liverpool’s incoming goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili, has quietly revealed his enthusiasm for the club’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
He signalled his hope that the midfielder will join the Reds this summer.
Mamardashvili, 24, agreed to join Liverpool in a £25 million deal last summer but spent the 2024/25 season at Valencia. Now preparing to move to Anfield, the Georgian keeper has been keeping a close eye on Liverpool’s transfer activity — especially regarding Wirtz.
Earlier this week, Liverpool held talks with the highly-rated 22-year-old German playmaker and his family in Blackpool. The German also held discussions with Manchester City in Manchester, while Bayern Munich remain interested but hesitant over Leverkusen’s hefty £126 million asking price.
Interest in Wirtz’s future took a subtle but clear turn when Mamardashvili liked a popular Instagram post by football news page 433 announcing the club’s contact with the player’s camp.
Though Wirtz has yet to decide on his next move, Liverpool’s new signing is already showing signs of excitement about potentially forming a key partnership with the talented midfielder.
