Pep Guardiola speaks on Manchester City Champions League qualification

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about the Sky Blues’ difficult situation and said that if they do not qualify for the Champions League it is because they do not deserve it.
Manchester City’s chances are dwindling, the Sky Blues are sixth, outside the Champions League places, and Tuesday’s game against Bournemouth looks crucial. Pep Guardiola said of the clash.
“It’s an important game, of course. I can’t remember a season in the last 14 or 15 years when we didn’t want to be in the Champions League. But if we’re not in the Champions League it’s because we don’t deserve it, and we’ll play in the Europa League. That’s the way it is,” he said.
However, the player from Santpedor is confident that his team will qualify: “We will qualify for the Champions League. That’s what I’m thinking about, we need two wins. Bournemouth will be the first step to finish third, that’s our objective. We will do that.”
However, the manager did not consider the season a failure: “Newcastle won the Carabao Cup, Liverpool the Premier League and Manchester City the Community Shield. The other teams didn’t win trophies…”
Finally, Guardiola spoke about Kevin de Bruyne, who will play his last game at the Etihad: “What De Bruyne wants is for us to win to play in the Champions League next year. I will decide which players are the best to play against Bournemouth”
