Enzo Fernandez: Chelsea stand firm amid Real Madrid interest

Chelsea have reaffirmed their commitment to keeping Enzo Fernandez at Stamford Bridge despite growing speculation linking the midfielder with a move to Real Madrid
The Argentinian remains central to the club’s long-term project, both on and off the pitch, and is seen as a key figure under manager Enzo Maresca. Fernandez, who arrived in west London for a then-British record fee of £107 million in January 2023, has reportedly attracted interest from Madrid since March.
Rumours of a potential swap deal have circulated in recent months, but Chelsea’s current stance leaves little room for negotiation, with the club prioritising continuity and leadership over short-term gain.
Club sources describe Fernandez as a leader in the dressing room and an integral part of the rebuild aimed at returning Chelsea to the top of English and European football. Alongside Moises Caicedo, he is viewed as one of the untouchables around whom the team will be built in the coming seasons.
With eyes on Champions League qualification and a serious run in the Conference League, the Blues appear determined to hold onto their core talents as they chart a path back to elite competition.
