Breaking: NNPC shuts down Port Harcourt Refinery

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced a one-month shutdown of operations at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC), beginning Saturday, May 24, 2025.
In a statement released by the company, the move is part of a scheduled routine maintenance aimed at inspecting and servicing key components of the refinery to ensure long-term operational efficiency and safety.
NNPC assured the public that the shutdown was pre-planned and aligns with global best practices for refinery upkeep. The company emphasized that the temporary halt is essential for maintaining the integrity and reliability of the facility.
According to the statement, the maintenance exercise will be carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), as well as other relevant stakeholders.
“The inspection and servicing process is part of our commitment to ensuring the safe and stable operation of our refineries,” NNPC said. “We are working closely with regulatory bodies to ensure the procedures are done thoroughly and efficiently.”
The company pledged to provide regular updates throughout the maintenance period via its official website and media platforms.
