Barcelona star Ansu Fati, is expected to leave Barcelona this summer and join Monaco on loan, with the French club securing an option to buy.

As Barcelona prepare to play their final La Liga match of the season on Sunday, the club are already shaping their transfer plans for the summer with little left at stake.

Among the pending departures is that of Ansu Fati, who has been largely overlooked by Hansi Flick throughout the campaign. Monaco have stepped up their interest in the academy graduate, keen to bring him to Ligue 1 next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, with confirmation from Matteo Moretto, the French side are close to reaching an agreement for his services. The deal is expected to be a loan for the upcoming campaign, including a purchase option with a future buy-back clause for the Catalans.

The player himself is reportedly convinced by the move, leaving only the final agreement between the two clubs to settle the last remaining details before Fati makes the switch to Monaco.

Having found playing time scarce and fallen short of the coach’s expectations, the winger is set to try his luck in Ligue 1, following a previous spell in the Premier League with Brighton.

Ansu Fati has made just 11 appearances this season, only three of which were starts. With just 298 minutes played ahead of the final La Liga fixture, he has come to terms with the decision to leave the Camp Nou in search of greater opportunities.
