INEC sets dates for Ekiti, Osun governorship elections

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday, announced dates for the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States.
Yakubu Mahmood, the chairman of the electoral body said the governorship election in Ekiti will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2026, while that of Osun will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Mahmood made this disclosure during the swearing-in ceremony of six new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).
The RECs were recently appointed following the approval of their nominations by the National Assembly.
According to Mahmood, INEC is currently finalising its plans for the bye-elections to fill all the various vacant seats in the National Assembly and the State Houses of Assemblies.
