Former kogi senator, Smart Adeyemi loses mother

Senator Smart Adeyemi, the immediate past representative of Kogi West in the National Assembly, is bereaved following the passing of his beloved mother, Princess Victoria Oyeyemi Adeyemi (née Ibilola).
Sources close to the family confirmed that the matriarch died peacefully on Wednesday morning at her Abuja residence. She was widely respected for her deep-rooted values, entrepreneurial spirit, and community service.
In a condolence statement, the National President of the Iyara Development Association (IDA), Dr. Aliyu Badaki, described her passing as a huge loss to the Iyara community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
“This is to announce the glorious exit of our dear lovely grandma, Mrs. Victoria Oyeyemi Adeyemi,” Badaki said. “She will always be remembered for her love, generosity, and passionate contributions to the growth and development of Iyara.”
He extended heartfelt sympathies to Senator Adeyemi and the entire Adeyemi family, praying for divine comfort and eternal rest for the departed.
“May her soul rest in peace. Our condolences to the entire family, especially Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi, and the community in general. Adieu, Mama,” the statement concluded.
When reached for comment, Senator Adeyemi confirmed the news with a simple, heartfelt message: “Thank you so much, and God bless you.”
