Veteran Actor, Alapini slams Tinubu over poor governance

Veteran Nollywood actor Alapini has publicly expressed disappointment over the perceived neglect of aging actors by the Bola Tinubu-led administration, months after he and several of his colleagues vigorously campaigned for the president’s victory.
In an interview making rounds online, Alapini revealed that he and over 100 other actors and actresses mobilised support for Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, believing that the president would prioritize the welfare of entertainers, especially the elderly and ailing ones within the industry.
“During the campaign, people were cursing us. Myself and other actors and actresses came out to campaign for Tinubu because we thought he would be better. Alapini lamented.
The seasoned actor didn’t hold back in his criticism of Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, who has been visiting hospitals and engaging in philanthropic activities in northern Nigeria. Alapini questioned why similar gestures have not been extended to ailing veterans in the southwest.
“Is Seyi blind? Is he not seeing elderly actors like us that need help now?” he asked bitterly. “Are there no people who are sick in the West that he can visit too?”
