Tension as man kills, buries girlfriend in shallow grave

Residents of Delta State have been left in shock following the arrest of a young man accused of killing his girlfriend and burying her in a shallow grave within his room.
The disturbing incident came to light after a video surfaced on social media showing the suspect being interrogated by local authorities. In the clip, he admitted that the tragic event occurred during a heated argument with his partner over money. According to him, the disagreement escalated, and he struck her on the head, causing her to collapse. He then allegedly buried her body in his room in an attempt to cover up the crime.
The horrifying discovery was made just days later, leading to his arrest. Although full details remain sketchy.
This gruesome case adds to a troubling trend of gender-based violence across Nigeria.
In January 2025, Timilehin Ajayi, a self-acclaimed gospel singer, was arrested in Ogun State for allegedly killing his girlfriend and dismembering her body—reportedly for ritual purposes.
Similarly, in Ilorin, a cleric identified as Abdulrahman was apprehended after murdering his girlfriend and mutilating her remains.
However, as as the time of this report, the police is yet to release any official statement on the matter.
