All passengers abducted as gunmen attack Benue Links bus

Tension gripped commuters in Benue State on Sunday evening as gunmen attacked a Benue Links commercial bus, robbing passengers and abducting several of them.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at Eke, along the Otukpo-Otukpa highway in Okpokwu Local Government Area.
According to reports, the bus identified by registration number 14B-143BN was en route with passengers when it was ambushed by armed assailants. The attackers reportedly blocked the road, forced the vehicle to a halt, and proceeded to rob all passengers of their belongings before marching them into the surrounding forest.
The swift response of Comrade Austin Agada, the Benue State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, proved pivotal. Agada promptly alerted security agencies, prompting a rapid deployment of both military and police operatives to the area.
As of press time, joint security forces had launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to locate and secure the release of the kidnapped passengers.
The Benue State government and security agencies are yet to issue an official statement.
