Breaking: PDP bows to pressure, reinstates Anyanwu as National Secretary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as its National Secretary and announced the postponement of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting originally scheduled for June 30.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, during a press conference held at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja. The briefing followed a closed-door session with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Damagum, flanked by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and other prominent party stakeholders, described the decision as a “difficult but necessary” step taken in the interest of party unity and cohesion.
“Senator Samuel Anyanwu has been reinstated into the National Working Committee as National Secretary,” Damagum declared. “It was a tough decision, but one that has received the support of major organs within the party.”
The PDP chairman also revealed that the party had yet to formally notify INEC about the planned NEC meeting. As a result, he said, the June 30 gathering would now be an expanded caucus meeting to deliberate on strategic issues affecting the party.
“Since INEC has not received a formal notice from us, we will proceed with an expanded Caucus meeting on June 30,” Damagum said. “A properly convened NEC meeting will be scheduled afterwards.”
