commercial tricycle rider in Aba, Abia State, is being hailed as a hero after he returned a whopping ₦4 million that a passenger forgot in his tricycle.

The rider, identified as Lucky Okoro, shared the story himself on Facebook on Thursday. He revealed that the money belonged to a Cameroonian woman who had boarded his tricycle from Aba Main Park to Ariaria Market but accidentally left behind her bag which contained the large sum in cash.

Okoro said he initially went back to the park to search for her but couldn’t locate her. He later found her at a junction near Ariaria Market, crying uncontrollably and looking devastated.

“I called her, wiped all her tears, then returned the money to her,” he wrote. “I even took her to a hotel and she paid for it. I told her to stay there so that tomorrow she can continue her journey. She is from Cameroon, she’s not even a Nigerian, talk less of an Aba woman.”

In the video, the woman is seen clutching the money and raining prayers on Okoro as passersby praised him for his rare show of honesty in a time when many would have chosen otherwise.

Despite criticism from some of his fellow riders who called him “mugu” for not keeping the money, Okoro stood by his decision.

“Some of my fellow Keke people called me mugun, but I am not a mugun,” he wrote. “I love what I did. I thank Jehovah for helping me do the right thing.”
