Breaking: Ganduje resigns as APC national chairman

In a development that has sent ripples across Nigeria’s political space, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has stepped down as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), bringing his tenure to an abrupt end.
Ganduje, a former two-term governor of Kano State, reportedly tendered his resignation with immediate effect, citing health-related concerns as the primary reason for his decision.
Though his resignation letter referenced the need to prioritise his well-being, insiders within the party say Ganduje’s exit may not be unconnected to mounting internal pressure and discontent over his leadership style.
Discovererngr.com reports that Ganduje assumed the position of APC National Chairman in August 2023 at a time the ruling party was battling internal discord and factional wrangling. His emergence raised eyebrows among some party loyalists who felt his appointment lacked broad-based consensus. Throughout his short stint, he faced criticism over his handling of party affairs and was frequently accused of favouritism and high-handedness.
However, the APC leadership is yet to release an official statement confirming the resignation or announcing a successor as at the time of this report.
