A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and respected scholar from Osun State, Prof. Adeyemi Adediwura, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Hon. Dr. Adekunle Adeniji, popularly known as Kongo, who was reportedly killed while in the captivity of kidnappers.

In a heartfelt condolence message addressed to the people of Ile-Ife, the Ife Kingdom, members of the APC, and the grieving family of the late political figure, Prof. Adediwura lamented the devastating loss and described the circumstances of Dr. Adeniji’s passing as both heartbreaking and unacceptable.

“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences following the tragic and untimely passing of Hon. Dr. Adekunle Adeniji,” the message reads. “His demise while in the captivity of kidnappers has left an indelible mark of grief and shock not only within the APC community but across the entirety of Ile-Ife and the Ife Kingdom.”

Prof. Adediwura described the late Kongo as a dedicated leader, a committed progressive, and a passionate advocate for development who devoted his life to public service and the upliftment of his people. According to him, Dr. Adeniji embodied compassion, resilience, and integrity—traits that inspired many within the political and traditional communities.

“He exemplified the values of service and sacrifice. His unwavering pursuit of progress for the Ife Kingdom, his loyalty to the APC, and his consistent advocacy for the welfare of his people leave behind a legacy that cannot be forgotten,” he added.

The scholar further condemned the security challenges in the country, calling the incident a grim reminder of the urgent need for reform and protection of lives. “The circumstances of his passing highlight the insecurity that continues to plague our society. It is truly heart-wrenching to lose a man of such caliber to the senseless act of kidnapping,” he said.

Prof. Adediwura called on the APC family and residents of Ile-Ife to remain united in grief and to honor the late Adeniji’s legacy by recommitting to peace, progress, and communal harmony. He also extended prayers and comfort to the bereaved family, urging them to take solace in the impact and inspiration the late politician left behind.

“His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he inspired. Let us remember his laughter, his vision, and his selfless service. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he concluded.
