Again, gunmen strike, kill 4 policemen, FRSC officials in Enugu


Raging suspected gunmen have launched another deadly attack in Orba and Eha-Alumona areas of Enugu, resulting in the deaths of 4 policemen and one Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials.
The violence started at Premier Junction in Eha-Alumona and extended to the Army checkpoint at Orba around 4 pm.
Four personnel lost their lives, while others sustained injuries.
In addition to the loss of lives, the assailants targeted a Hilux van belonging to Patrick Eze, the traditional ruler of Egali Amalla Community in Udenu LG, known as Igwe Waziri.
Although caught in the attack, the monarch miraculously escaped unharmed.
Furthermore, an FRSC van was set ablaze during the chaos.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Kanayo Uzuegbu, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police expressed unawareness of the incident, directing inquiries to the Police Public Relations Officer.
However, attempts to reach the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, were proved to avail.
Governor Peter Mbah has pledged to utilize all available resources to bring the perpetrators to justice, following the previous attack where two policemen lost their lives.
