Alexander-Arnold’s legacy secured despite boos – Robertson

Andy Robertson has offered a touching message of support for Trent Alexander-Arnold following a mixed reception from Liverpool fans as the right-back edges closer to a move away from Anfield.
Alexander-Arnold, 26, was met with a chorus of jeers from a section of supporters during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal, a reaction that appeared to reflect disappointment over the player’s expected departure at the end of the season.
Robertson, who has formed a close friendship with him since they began playing together in 2017, expressed sadness at both the crowd’s reaction and the prospect of losing his long-time teammate.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Scotland international said: “It wasn’t easy to hear. Seeing someone you’re so close to being booed is tough. Of course, people are entitled to their opinions, but I can only speak for myself — and I’m incredibly proud of what Trent has achieved here.”
The 31-year-old continued by highlighting the deep bond the pair have shared on and off the pitch: “He’s not just a world-class player — he’s one of my best friends. We’ve been through everything together, and I’ll miss him massively. He’s helped me raise my game, pushed me to new levels. That’s something I’ll always be grateful for.”
Acknowledging the emotional nature of the situation, Robertson admitted there were strong feelings on all sides. “This isn’t an easy decision for Trent. People can feel what they want, but his legacy at Liverpool is secure — the trophies, the unforgettable moments — that’s all part of our history now.”
With Alexander-Arnold’s future all but confirmed to lie elsewhere, his teammate’s heartfelt tribute underlines the impact the full-back has had during his time on Merseyside — both as a teammate and as a friend.
