Another petroleum tanker falls in Ibadan

A petroleum tanker has fallen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, raising concerns over a possible fire outbreak.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Sunday at Tose, Moniya, in Akinyele Local Government Area. Witnesses immediately alerted the Oyo State Fire Service, prompting a swift emergency response.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, stated that the agency received the report at exactly 11:11 a.m. and quickly dispatched personnel to the scene to prevent any fire hazards caused by the fuel spillage.
“On arrival, all necessary actions were taken, including blanketing the spillage with chemical compounds to neutralize its flammability,” Akinyinka said.
He also noted that police officers were present to prevent residents from engaging in the dangerous act of scooping spilled fuel.
“The Nigerian police are on ground to curb the illegality of public fuel scooping, and our personnel remain on standby to ensure safety,” he added.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation to avert any further risks.
