Ata dismisses rumours of threatening to leave APC

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdulahi Ata, has dismissed reports of threatening to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to alleged conflicts with the party’s leadership in Kano State.
In a statement released on Sunday and signed by his media aide, Seyi Olorunsola, Ata clarified that his remarks during a recent event in Fagge, Kano, were misconstrued.
The statement read: “The Office of the Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ata, wishes to categorically refute the misinterpretations and misleading narratives arising from his recent engagements in Kano State, particularly his interactions with the APC caucus in Fagge Local Government, former members of the Kano State House of Assembly and social media practitioners.
Contrary to various media reports circulating over the weekend, the Minister did not threaten to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) if the current party leadership in Kano State is retained. These reports have taken his statements out of context, presenting a distorted view that seeks to sow division within the party.
During meetings with the APC caucus, former State House of Assembly members, and media representatives, Ata highlighted the importance of unity and collective efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized the need for a unified front to secure continued success for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibril, and other key stakeholders in Kano State.
His comments focused on encouraging political actors to uphold respect, unity, and faith, especially after the 2023 gubernatorial election and the subsequent Supreme Court judgment. He warned that divisive rhetoric and actions undermining religious and traditional institutions could weaken party cohesion and future electoral prospects.”
The statement read further: “He made it clear that those who challenge divine will should not be tolerated in society but should be shown the exit door through lawful and constitutional means.”
Ata reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, dismissing claims that he was considering leaving the party. The statement underscored his dedication to helping the APC regain control of Kano State and strengthen its national influence through unity, fairness, and inclusive leadership.
The Minister also urged journalists to practice ethical reporting, warning against sensationalism and inaccurate narratives that could inflame political tensions. He expressed unwavering support for the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their efforts in uniting and fortifying the party.
“The focus remains on ensuring a resounding APC victory in 2027, including reclaiming the Kano State Government House from the opposition,” the statement concluded, calling on party members and the public to ignore misrepresentations and continue supporting the APC’s progress.
