Atiku ally fires Wike over comment on PDP zoning

A chieftain of the People Democratic Party, Oladimeji Fabiyi, has reacted to the media chat held by the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
The Ogun State PDP chieftain, in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, stated that Wike has no power to decide for the party on the issue of zoning, adding that he is working for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
“Wike is a clear agent working for Tinubu’s reelection, and can not determine or dictate where the PDP zones its ticket in 2027,” Fabiyi stated.
He further accused Wike of being a betrayal and double agent for the ruling party, APC.
He said in the statement: “Let me remind Minister Wike that his negative antics, rabble-rousing, bullying, reckless playbook and betrayals of the party have denied him the opportunity to partake in the decision of where the party should zone its ticket in 2027.
“I want to remind Wike that he does not own PDP. Wike reinforced his resolve to kill the PDP by threatening to challenge in court, the decision of the party on the acting National Secretary, Arc. Setonji Kosheido should he append his signature on the party’s correspondences.
“His claims and query of PDP possible zoning its tickets in 2031 should the APC return its ticket to the North is not valid to the extent that it is the ruling party that had the onus of zoning its ticket to the north. PDP as an opposition party cannot afford to dance to the dictate of the APC or zone its ticket based on the actions of the APC.”
Fabiyi further said that it was disturbing how Wike openly expressed his deep hatred for the North in his media chat, adding: “this cannot be by accident; he did it in 2023 by ganging up against the Presidential candidate of the party Atiku Abubakar who hailed from the North.”
According to Fabiyi, the PDP Governor’s forum meeting was nothing but a gathering of compromise and jesters rather than strategy.
In his words: “The Governors’ Forum again dashed the hopes of the party faithful, the meeting should have afforded them the opportunity of discussing critical issues bedevling the party, rather they veered into the usual jamboree.
“The appointment of Sen. Bukola Saraki was another comic relief that leads to nowhere. Apart from the fact that when the party was asking for help, Sen. Saraki was aloof because he wanted to reclaim Kwara State. He deserted the North Central Zone.
“The question that readily comes to mind is what happened to the standing reconciliation committee headed by former Governor of Osun State Prince Oyinlola?
“It is, therefore, evident that these Governors and the party leadership are either confused or playing a script that will finally bury the PDP.
“The most distressing was admitting Wike who is frantically working against the party into the meeting, which was a validation of his betrayal of the party and emboldening him to further mess up the party.
“What is the strategic value of Wike in PDP now? Anyone still believing that Wike meant well for the PDP is most unrealistic.
“Same Wike who slammed and disparaged the Governors forum for taking a decision on the National Secretary. As long as Wike is not shown the way out of the PDP, the party will go nowhere.
“As long as Damagun illegally occupies the seat of the National Chairman, the party will not know peace.
“Bala Mohammed and his colleagues created a monster Wike that is now hunting them; unfortunately the monster is also hunting the entire PDP,” Fabiyi noted.
