Breaking: Government declares 2-week sallah break

Kano State Government has announced a mid-term holiday for all primary and post-primary schools across the state to mark the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
According to an official statement issued by the state’s education ministry, schools are to proceed on break from Wednesday, June 4, 2025, and are expected to resume academic activities on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
The directive applies to both day and boarding schools, the ministry said, adding that parents and guardians of boarding students have been advised to get their children by the early hours of June 4.
The ministry emphasised that the decision was in line with the 2024/2025 academic calendar, which remained unchanged despite the festive break, noting that all academic and holiday schedules would be strictly adhered to.
In the statement, the Commissioner of Education, Ali Makoda, urged parents to ensure that students resume promptly after the holiday.
“We also urge parents and guardians to ensure their children comply with the official resumption date for a smooth continuation of the academic term,” Makoda stated.
He further extended well-wishes to all students and staff, saying, “We wish our students and pupils a peaceful and successful Sallah break.”
