Breaking: IGP Egbetokun withdraws invitation to Sanusi

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has withdrawn an earlier invitation extended to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, in connection with a recent incident involving the monarch.
The move comes after the intervention of key national stakeholders who appealed for a more sensitive approach to the matter, given the traditional and political undertones surrounding the situation.
In a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police chief directed the Kano State Command to obtain the Emir’s statement within the state rather than summoning him to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the IGP, the decision to retract the invitation is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining professionalism and avoiding any actions that may be politicized or misinterpreted.
