Breaking: Labour leaders re-open Oyo govt Secretariat

After the national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) called off the ongoing strike, the Oyo state chapters of the unions complied by reopening the state government secretariat.
Previously, the union leaders had shut down the secretariat by blocking the entrance gates and enforcing a sit-at-home directive, going as far as physically escorting out workers who had reported for duty.
But, shortly after the new directive on suspension of the strike filtered, the Chairman of the TUC, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi quickly summoned all the labour leaders, briefed them and directed an immediate compliance with the national directive.
As at the time of this report, the Secretariat still remains deserted despite the re-opening of the gates.
Despite the reopening of the Oyo state government secretariat, security remains tight.
But, business owners and vendors operating within and around the premises are able to access their establishments without restrictions.
However, as of the time of this report, banks located within the secretariat complex have not yet resumed operations and remain closed for transactions.
