Breaking: Osun court gives new orders on LG election

The Osun State High Court sitting in Ilesa has directed the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to proceed with the conduct of local government elections across the 30 local government areas and the area office in the state.
The ruling, delivered on Friday, February 21, 2025, followed a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), one of the political parties participating in the election.
With this court order, OSSIEC is now mandated to fill the vacant positions of local government chairmen and councillors across the state. The ruling is expected to shape the electoral process in Osun, as political parties gear up for the local government polls.
