Breaking: Sowore leads #EgbetokunMustGo protest after getting bail

A former presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 general elections and activist, Omoyele Sowore is leading a protest seeking the sack of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Sowore led the protest on Thursday, shortly after he was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
He was granted bail in the sum of ₦10 million with one surety in like sum.
Carrying placards with inscriptions #EgbetokunMustGo, Sowore protested on the streets of Abuja alongside some of his supporters.
He called for the sack of the IGP while alleging that Egbetokun committed some infraction by staying in position despite reaching his retirement, a crime which he (Sowore) claimed some other officers were dismissed for committing.
In a post on X, Sowore, “These two police officers @PoliceNG were found to have committed the same infraction by failing to relinquish their positions upon retirement, one Inspector Linus Okoro was taken into custody for wrongdoing while the other Kayode Egbetokun proceeded to arrest citizens who called out his infractions. This is unfair! #RevolutionNow #EgbetokunMustGo.”
The post above by Sowore was made alongside photos of the IGP and Inspector Linus Okoro.
