Chelsea are grappling with a potential injury crisis as several key players remain doubtful for their upcoming Premier League showdown against Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
Manager Enzo Maresca revealed that Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Enzo Fernandez, and Romeo Lavia are uncertain to feature, having all missed Friday’s training session. The club faces a tense wait to determine their availability.
Palmer, who delivered a standout performance during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, is the biggest concern. The 22-year-old forward sustained a heavy knock and has since been sidelined. Addressing Palmer’s situation, Maresca explained, “Cole is a doubt. He was kicked in the first half, didn’t train today, and we’re monitoring him. We’ll see if he’s ready over the weekend.”
Colwill also picked up a knock during the Bournemouth match, while Fernandez and Lavia are nursing muscle fatigue. All four players will undergo late fitness tests ahead of the Wolves clash.
The injury woes don’t end there for the Blues. Defenders Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile remain out with hamstring issues, while midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is unavailable. Mykhailo Mudryk and young forward Kellyman are also sidelined.
In response to the growing defensive crisis, Chelsea have recalled Trevoh Chalobah from his loan stint at Crystal Palace. Chalobah’s return provides some relief, but Maresca’s team selection options remain limited.
Chelsea fans are anxious about the team’s lineup, which could see significant reshuffling depending on the recovery of key players. A potential starting XI includes:
Sanchez; Caicedo, Tosin, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Lavia; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson.
