Court sacks PDP reps member, declares Labour Party winner

Tribunal sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State has sacked House of Representatives member representing Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, Engr Simon Atigwe.
The court also declared Labour Party’s Dennis Agbo as the rightful winner of the rerun election held on February 3rd, 2024.
This decision follows a legal battle that began after Agbo initially secured the seat during the 2023 general election.
However, his victory was subsequently annulled by the Court of Appeal, which ordered a rerun in ten polling units.
The petition that led to Agbo’s initial removal was filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who contested that the result sheets from the affected units did not include the APC’s scores.
Agbo had led the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate by over 10,000 votes before the court ordered the rerun.
In the tribunal’s ruling, Agbo’s win in the rerun was confirmed, securing his position as the legitimate representative of the Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency.
