Davido opens up about friendship with Hushpuppi

Nigerian music superstar Davido has spoken candidly about his friendship with convicted internet fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, stating that he never knew what the socialite did for a living.
In an interview that has stirred fresh conversations online, Davido acknowledged that he was close to Hushpuppi before his arrest, but was unaware of the illicit dealings that eventually led to the socialite’s conviction.
Recall that Hushpuppi was sentenced to over 11 years in a U.S. prison for his role in a multi-million dollar international fraud scheme. Before his arrest, he was known for flaunting a flamboyant lifestyle on social media, often seen hanging out with celebrities and influencers, including Davido.
Reflecting on their relationship, the DMW boss described Hushpuppi as someone who “lived life to the fullest,” adding that some people are willing to enjoy luxury for a few years, even if it comes at a cost later.
“My prayers go out to him, he’s my friend,” Davido said. “I just used to see him around; I never really knew what he was doing. But he lived a good life.”
The singer’s comments have created mixed reactions online, with some fans praising his honesty, while others questioned the culture of turning a blind eye to suspicious wealth.
