Dear daughter, before you marry, by Ray U Morphy

The days are gone when men married women who bring nothing. These days, you need to go to a man with some assets.
By assets here, I mean advantages, be they of character or skill, not necessarily of money or things material.
I see poorly behaved young ladies who insist that whoever wants to marry them will marry them as they are, warts and all. These category of young women make no effort to improve themselves or make themselves acceptable “marriage material”!
They just want a place where they will continue to live a pampered life! Such babes will wait taya. Be not like them. You must make efforts to improve yourself daily, you must learn life’s skills, you must learn home skills and you must know that if you are lucky to go to a man’s house, you go as a junior partner.
Certainly, you will have all the rights of a partner, but you will be junior all the same. Christians call it helper, culture calls it homemaker. You go to make a man’s house a home. Can you do that if you are lazy, pampered and spoilt?
