Edo guber: Obaseki downplays Wike’s withdrawal of support

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has dismissed concerns that his fallout with Minister Nyesom Wike will hinder the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) chances in Saturday’s governorship election.
Obaseki, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, expressed confidence in Edo residents’ ability to make informed decisions without external influence.
“Wike came to get Edo people to vote for me, but Edo people are wise enough to decide for themselves,” Obaseki said. “They don’t need outsiders to make their decisions.”
Obaseki also addressed his previous “do or die” comment, clarifying that it meant Edo’s fate would be sealed if the All Progressives Congress (APC) took power.
“If they [APC] take over, Edo state is finished… The level of impunity and recklessness is alarming,” Obaseki warned.
The governor alleged the APC plans to rig the election but vowed the people would resist.
Will Edo residents back Obaseki despite internal PDP conflicts?.
Only time will tell.
