After Arsenal’s shock defeat on Saturday, another Liverpool side was expected at Craven Cottage. However, despite taking the lead in the 15th minute, the Londoners turned the game around with three quick strikes, leaving the score 3-1 at half-time.

The Premier League sometimes throws up moments like this. Despite having gone 26 matches unbeaten in the league and being on the verge of the title, Liverpool let everything slip when they had the perfect opportunity to extend their lead to 14 points over Arsenal, who had drawn at Goodison Park against Everton the day before.

Although Mac Allister put the Reds ahead after 14 minutes of play, the next 14 minutes proved disastrous for Arne Slot’s men, who went into the break 3-1 down against Fulham, who refuse to drop out of the European race.

Just nine minutes after the 0-1, Marco Silva’s side reacted with an equaliser from Ryan Sessegnon following a defensive error from Liverpool. Andreas Pereira crossed from the right, Curtis Jones, playing as a full-back, miscleared the ball, and the English winger was able to tap it in.

This was followed by another mistake, this time from Andy Robertson, who, attempting a horizontal switch of play, gifted the ball to Alex Iwobi. The former Arsenal player took a shot, got the rebound against a lacklustre defence, and after several cuts, finished past Kelleher, who couldn’t make the save.

Finally, in the 37th minute, Van Dijk was caught out by Rodrigo Muniz in a duel for a high ball. The Brazilian flicked it past the surprised Dutch defender and finished under the legs of the Reds’ goalkeeper.

Three strikes due to three defensive errors from Liverpool, who seemed determined to delay their title celebrations.
