FCTA to upgrade 3 hospitals


The Federal Capital Territory Health Services and Environment Secretariat has unraveled plans to upgrade 3 hospitals in Abuja.
While speaking on the upgrade, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, the Mandate Secretary, reiterated the resoluteness and dedication of the administration to improve the healthcare infrastructure in the hospitals.
The Mandate Secretary, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr Baba-Gana Adam, added that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike recently announced the plan by the FCTA to upgrade some hospitals in the territory with infrastructure.
“The FCT Administration has placed health as a top priority to the renewed hope agenda of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration, and as such, three hospitals in FCT will get a facelift to meet up standard, these hospitals are Gwagwalada, Utako, and Gwarinpa General hospitals,” she noted.
The Acting Head, Medical Laboratory, African Union Commission, who is also the leader of the delegation, Kalifa Manneh said the purpose of the visit is to conduct an assessment of medical and health services in Maitama and Asokoro district hospitals.
She disclosed that the commission sent an 18-member delegation to evaluate FCT preparedness to host the African Humanitarian Department.
The Medical Director, Maitama District Hospital, Dr Rita Idemudia, in her welcome address, stated that the hospital is determined to provide affordable and accessible health services using modern and appropriate technology.
