Ferdinand slams Man Utd after Everton display

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has condemned his former team’s performance against Everton, describing it as “unforgivable” and claiming he has never seen the team play so poorly in his lifetime.
Ferdinand, who enjoyed a trophy-laden 12-year career at Old Trafford, was left in disbelief by United’s struggles this season. The team, under manager Ruben Amorim, is languishing in 15th place in the Premier League, a full 12 points adrift of the European qualification spots.
The team’s woes continued on Saturday, when they were held to a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park after falling two goals behind by half-time.
Ferdinand, who watched the match closely, was furious with what he saw, and did not hold back in his post-match assessment. “I’m sitting here and I don’t know if I have seen a United team this bad. It has been embarrassing in all different facets of the game,” Ferdinand told TNT Sports.
The former England defender was particularly critical of the team’s lack of fight, a quality he deemed “unforgivable”. “There’s instances in this game where Man Utd need to look at this Everton team and take examples from it. It’s embarrassing to sit here and watch it,” he added.
Ferdinand explained that he had expected United to show resilience and fight back after Everton pressed them hard, but instead, they were “out-run, out-fought, out-jumped” in every area of the game.
“We said they were going to have to come out and roll their sleeves up because Everton would come out fighting. Man Utd haven’t done that. They’ve been pressed, they’ve been harried. They haven’t been able to deal with the press at all,” he said. “They have chance after chance to clear the ball. Zero conviction, no one taking over the situation,” he remarked.
Ferdinand hopes that Amorim delivered a stern dressing down to his players after the match. “I hope [Amorim] went absolutely ballistic at the players. They were second best in every single department,” he concluded.
