Neville highlighted that the Liverpool star’s physical strength and composure on the ball.
Mohamed Salah, who became Liverpool’s joint-third-highest scorer following his performance in their 2-0 win over Manchester City, has also firmly established himself as the Premier League’s top scorer with 25 goals and assists leader with 16.
Neville, speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, noted that Salah’s strength has been a key factor in his unrelenting success this season. He said: “Psychologically, he’s in the head of the opponent he’s up against. You know when you play against someone where you think, ‘I’m going to smash him, I’m going to knock him, I’m going to go through him’ — you can’t, he’s like a brick wall.”
Neville went on to describe Salah as “world-class” and highlighted his ability to perform in the most crucial moments, comparing him to Manchester United legend Eric Cantona, who was known for delivering in decisive matches.
He concluded: “When I look back at my career, particularly my first title season when (Eric) Cantona scored single goals, you just thought, that’s the difference player. That’s what Salah is for Liverpool. That’s what world-class looks like.”
