Governor Yusuf dissolves caretaker committees

Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf has dissolved the caretaker committees in Kano local governments, just a week after the state House of Assembly approved a two-month extension to their tenure.
The extension was intended to ensure continuity in local governance, but Governor Yusuf has opted to take a different path.
The dissolution affects all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councilors, effective immediately. Governor Yusuf has directed the caretaker chairmen to hand over leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management.
Local government elections are scheduled to take place on October 26, and this move is likely a step towards preparing for the upcoming polls.
Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the caretaker chairmen for their contributions to the development of their areas and hinted at potential future collaboration. This dissolution marks a significant shift in the state’s local governance structure.
