Govt declares August 20 as public holiday


Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially declared August 20, 2024, a work-free day in honor of Isese Day, a significant celebration for traditional worshippers.
The announcement was made through a statement released on Wednesday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
According to the statement, the work-free day declaration was outlined in a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo.
Governor Makinde had previously stated that August 20 would be observed as a work-free day annually to commemorate Isese Day, which is a day dedicated to traditional religious observance in the state.
The governor also urged all traditional worshippers and citizens across the state to use the day to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and stability of both Oyo State and the nation at large.
