Group demands probe over threat on Ilodo community


A Human Rights group, Save the Poor and Needy Charity Initiative (SPANCI) Saturday, urged Oyo state government to investigate alleged attacks and threats on the people of Ilodo in Oriire local government area of the state.
The group in a statement by its President, Comrade Yemi Ezekiel charged Oyo state government to with the investigations take necessary measure on the matter
In the statement, the group while tasking Oyo state government to save the people of Ilodo in Oriire local government area from alleged attacks and threats accused the Alamura of Amura Oba Samuel Olakunle in the same area of the alleged threats
” We hereby appeal to His Excellency, Gov Oluseyi Makinde, the Chairman Oyo state government taskforce on real property protection and anti-land grabbing law, the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters, the honorable Commissioner for justice and attorney general Oyo State, the Speaker Oyo state house of assembly and the CJ Oyo State judiciary to investigate the matter and take necessary actions in line with the law to save the souls of Ilodo royal family members and their workers from the alleged threat of Alamura of Amura Oba Olakunle Samuel”.
SPANCI alleged in the SOS entitled ” An Urgent appeal to Governor Seyi Makinde to Save the soul of Ilodo people from assassination, killing and threat to their lives” that the traditional ruler on Wednesday April 3, 2024 allegedly beat some people in the community in a bid to grab their land.
“We were reliably informed of how Oba Samuel Olakunle the Alamura of Amura land who the state government has prosecuted on about four counts charges bothering on land grabbing, conspiracy, self help and other on ilodo land before, allegedly led some team to ilodo land on Wednesday April 3, 2024 with dangerous weapons and allegedly invaded Ilodo” it said
SPANCI added, “We were informed that the Oyo state government task force on real property protection and anti-land grabbing law has invited both Ilodo’s and Alamura to appear on Wednesday April 3, 2024 but the Ilodo’s on their way coming saw Alamura allegedly leading his people with tractor and dangerous weapons to unlawfully invade Ilodo’s land, (the same land upon which he was prosecuted and the matter which is still before the court) and grab it for cultivation”.
“To prove them right, their members and their workers on the land called them that Alamura and his team have invaded the land and started beating them allegedly at Alamura’s instruction”.
The group claimed further “Alamura and his people allegedly deliberately shunned the state government taskforce on real property protection and anti-land grabbing law to be able to perpetrate the criminal act.
